Work With Me

Bragging vs. Gratitude

There is a thin line it seems to me between bragging and gratitude.  Example:

“I am so thankful for my private jet”.

I don’t have a private jet (although I have flown in several)  but if I did I would be thankful, but if I said that publicly I think it might be bragging.

This has always been a bit of a problem for me since I started my “Work From Home”, “Attraction Marketing”, “Network Marketing” thing.

My mom was adamant about not bragging.

No trash talking if you win…be a good sport you say “nice game” and smile and maybe even shake their hand.

I was blessed as a child, with a father that was very successful in business.  We moved to a small town when I was in the sixth grade and we built one of the largest homes in the community at that time with a large pool and tennis court.    I was the new kid in school and there were lots of questions and curiosity, but I never once talked about our house or where I lived.  On parent-teacher day my teacher was getting missing info from my mom for  my file and when mom told her our address she was shocked.

So even before Facebook, I was conflicted because in Network Marketing you are encouraged to talk about how much you make or how successful you have been, which I have been taught is just right out!!  But they tell you to do it to inspire the team.    They think “if she can do it…I can do it”.  They even march you across the stage and announce it to everyone how much you have made.   If you are on a conference call they introduce you with  “welcome such and such to the call, she is a seven figure income earner.”

And with Internet Marketing you have to tell the person that lands on your site how wonderful and successful you have been or why would they want to buy your stuff and get your free newsletter, or register for your webinar?

So with the popularity of Facebook it seems I am even more conflicted.

I see lots of positive people on Facebook ALL DAY LONG!!…(I know, I resemble that remark).  They must be successful “Work from Home” types.  And the jest of their posts are about how successful they are, and what amazing lives they lead, and how many toys they have, and on, and on, and on.  It’s sounds a lot like bragging to me.  But here is where the conflict comes in.

On the one hand I think if the successful people are the ones doing and saying this, then it must be the right thing to do…right?  People see all this and say wow, I need their stuff, or I want to join their team, or I want to be their friend.

On the other hand,  I have been blessed with success in my business and have lots of things I would love to talk about and have been tempted to talk about, mostly because I am very thankful for those things but I just can’t bring myself to do it because it feels like bragging.  (I know the worlds longest run on sentence…this may be the world longest blog…if you are venting is it called a ventog?)

This blog started while I was in the shower.  I love my shower.  I am thankful for my shower.  Now don’t get me wrong.  We have lived in the same house for over 30 years.  It’s not a mansion.  But it is nice and I am thankful.  But our bathroom is pretty WOW!!  We have a heated marble floor and a huge double shower that is also a steam room.  We have this enormous window in the shower where the sun beams in.  I love walking in there barefooted on the hot floor and turning on the steam while I brush my teeth.  The sun is beaming in and when you step into the steam room it is like being at your own private spa every morning.  And while I was showering with my big hot pink luffa (that I got at Walmart, that I am thankful for) I thought to myself I could video my shower (not with me in it of course)  and put in on Facebook and show everyone what a wonderful thing it is to work from home. “Livin the lifestyle”. “Livin the good life”.  “Livin the Dream!!”

But I just can’t.  It was hard enough keeping this paragraph in the blog. If this post even makes it to my blog you will know I labored over whether I should say these things or not.  But it’s were I am today.    Do you feel the same way or do I have issues?  Is there a ten step program for this?

I know what this is.  It’s  blambling… A rambling blog.

So I decided to put this on the “work with me” page.

While trying to not brag, I will tell you that I have had success in working from home.  I don’t charge a boat load of money to coach people or show them how to do this…. I don’t charge any money for that.  If you want to know how I did it, and you would like to work with me, and have me show you how to do what I do, then enter your info in the form.

I will personally contact you so be prepared.

Ya…I’m a newbie and into direct sales, marketing about 6 different things WITHOUT a list!
So, I’ve found a spot where I can buy targeted lists and now I’m looking to buy my own autoresponder because all the ones out there don’t want to either let you import or charge rediculous prices to contact the large lead lists. I am aware of the dangers of getting blacklisted but my lead source tells me these are definitely not spam leads and they have all opted in within the last 30 days.
Candi, do you have any advice for this old newbie?

Candi, I left a phone message for your earlier about this. It’s about TurboCycler, Peter Wolfing”s new company. It’s blasting off, and wouldn’t it be great if we could work together? My sponsor made over $10,000 in less than two weeks.

My phone numbers are Cell: 615-945-6609 and home office: 615-7503392.

Please listen to my phone message and give me a call. Thanks, and best regards, Scott
