What is it exactly that I do?

The goal of an Internet Marketer is to build the list. You grow the number of people that read your newsletter, read your blog etc. You meet people at networking events and exchange cards. Those names go on your “list”. The list is GOLD. I have been doing this and it is a process. Never throw away a business card unless you have logged that info somewhere on a spread sheet, or in an auto responder. I started building my list with my YTB newsletter. It helps if you have a field to define how that person came to be on your list. I have not perfected that part of list building. Everyone is just sort of lumped into the “newsletter” and they all get the same info. That is one of my goals for 2010, to categorize my list.

The title of my blog today has to do with an email response I received from my Sunday Night Newsletter. Shortly after I blasted out the newsletter I got a response from someone on the list with a very brief message…..”What is it exactly that you do?” Oddly enough that was a hard question to answer. It’s kind of hard to actually say what I do. I don’t even have a business card right now because I don’t know what to put on it. I go with friends to networking meetings and when it’s my turn to say what I do, I’m sort of at a loss.

This was my response to his email “I work from home for the most part. I started in Network Marketing in 2006 and expanded into Internet marketing almost a year ago. I have now added real estate investing because of a seminar I attended with a group of friends.”

His response was “I’m curious; I would love to know more…would you like to meet for lunch?”
We did meet, today, in the midst of the year’s first snow storm. It was a great meeting. He told me he had been receiving my newsletter for two years. I don’t really know how he got on the list but I’m glad he did. We have some great plans for working together. And that my friends is the power of “the list”
