Internet Marketing Plan

Over the next few months on Wednesdays we are going to come up with an Internet Marketing Plan of action.  Every Monday in the Louisville area we have a Meetup group  that joins together to share best practices about blogging, Internet marketing and affiliate marketing.  Basically it’s about “how to make money online”.  It sounds very desirable doesn’t it?  Sleeping late, working from home, sitting on the sofa in your robe and slippers, a steaming cup of coffee on the end table and the laptop in your lap.   Taking a break to check the mail for affiliate checks and then maybe a nap before lunch.   Wow!  It sounds great right?  Well that is NOT how I spend my day!!!  I actually take my nap after lunch. LOL  

All kidding aside the above picture that I painted really is how I spend a large part of some days.    I do venture out most days for a lunch appointment or a Starbucks meeting.  Now don’t get me wrong.  I work hard and I put in a lot of hours. A lot more than 40 hours per week.   But the ultimate business goal for me is to have time freedom and an income to support my desired lifestyle.  And I am determined to reach that goal directly or indirectly via the Internet.         

It’s something a lot of people are interested in but many seem to have a hard time just getting started.  It is more than a little overwhelming, especially if you are a “non-geek like me:)

It will take time.  You will not make money overnight.  And someone can’t sit down with you in a couple of hours and tell you how to do this.  I’ve actually had people ask me to do that.   It’s like asking someone that plays the piano to take a couple hours and teach you to play like them. 

 I think we learn best through repetition.  In the beginning I will be giving out basic info and you will need to do this “thing” until it feels comfortable to you.

What do you have to do to make money on the Internet?  You must sell something.  So don’t tell me you are uncomfortable with selling.  We have been selling since the first time we begged to stop at McDonalds or asked for money for the ice cream man. People are buying like crazy on the Internet.  They are going to buy these items from someone and it can be you if you position yourself properly.

So this is the beginning of my non-geek program otherwise known as Wealthy Wednesday.  Posting takes time and I want to give you what you want and need so I will depend on you to leave comments and point me in the right direction.   Be sure the comments you leave are on the blog and not directly to my email.  Others need to see your thoughts because it often triggers an “ah Ha” moment or a “me too” response or a feeling of “I’m not the only one with that issue”.

I will probably have the occasional survey and your participation in them would also be very helpful.  I don’t want to work on something that no one needs.  We may even start a webinar if there is an interest in that.    

So your first assignment for this week is below. 

1. Choose your poison: This can be the hardest part.    You might think no problem…I’ll just choose something I am passionate about.  And while it would be great to find something perfect to market, that is also something you love and have an interest in,  this  is not alway how it works.  But what you choose you will probably become passionate about.  

 You have to sell what people want and need.  And what do they want and need?  Love, Health and Money.  Think about what you go in search of on Google.  Most people are looking for help and answers.  They Google things like, headaches, back problems, hemerroids, trouble with teenagers, finding a date, finding a spouse, making money, credit repair, hair loss,  how to write a good resume.   See what I mean?  Love, health and money.

 This will require some heavy research. There are tons of options to choose from.  My suggestion is to go to the ClickBank Marketplace and start your search.  Just go to www.ClickBank.com and click on “marketplace” at the top of the page.  This will open a window with a list on the left.  Spend some time this week getting familiar with Clickbank.   I would suggest you study it a little every day this week.  We are going to take baby steps and get a good foundation laid.   I have included several links for some additional reading.  Let me know your thoughts by clicking on comments and sending me a message.  Good luck.  This will be fun.
